Jakarta, 11 August 2017, The ASEAN Statistics Division of the ASEAN Secretariat (ASEANStats) published the 2017 ASEAN Community Progress Monitoring System (ACPMS) on 9 August 2017 at the ASEAN Secretariat, Jakarta in conjunction with the commemorations of ASEAN 50th anniversary and the second year the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC).
The report examines where the ASEAN Community stands in various economic and socio-cultural indicators pertinent to the characteristics of the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) and ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC). The ACPMS report is to complement existing broader regional integration monitoring mechanisms, including community scorecards, sector-specific monitoring and surveillance tools.
It is expected that the report will serve as a key reference and provides broad perspective for decision makers in the ASEAN Member States (AMS) and other stakeholders of development and regional integration, as they formulate and implement strategies for accelerating the ASEAN regional economic and socio-cultural integration agenda.
The publication, the third of the ACPMS report series, is the end product of a project titled “Establishing the Mechanism to Enhance National Data Collection, Compilation and Dissemination for the ASEAN Community Progress Monitoring System” supported under the ASEAN Australia Development Cooperation Program Phase II. AADCP II also supported the 2012 ACPMS publication in 2013.
